At Big Muddy Genetics, our dedication to continual learning and community engagement is closely tied to our profound appreciation for cannabis and the positive impact it has had on our own lives—as medicinal consumers, growers, and aspiring cannabis breeding craftsmen.
By drawing on our technical expertise, research abilities, and artistic inclinations, we strive to advance cannabis breeding as both a science and an art. Leveraging our engineering and technology backgrounds, we combine modern tools with traditional breeding methods to research, test, and develop a remarkable array of unique cultivars that consistently exceed our customers’ expectations.
Our Roots
Formally established in 2024 by two brothers native to the Southern Illinois region, Big Muddy Genetics is a family-owned and operated craft cannabis cultivar research and seed development collective with deep roots in the legendary Big Muddy Monster territory.
While our journey into the world of cannabis cultivation had humble beginnings – starting out in a dark, cobweb-packed and treacherous attic crawlspace not far from where the Big Muddy Monster has been spotted – we’ve “grown into our gardening gloves” over the years and are now beyond thrilled to offer some of the highest quality cannabis seeds available today!

We recognize that every cultivar we create at Big Muddy Genetics is built on the dedication and tireless efforts of those who preceded us. We also believe in the critical importance of accurately documenting the lineage of all cultivars used in breeding projects, both to honor past work and to advance cannabis science.
Accordingly, we will always provide comprehensive details on the parental lineage of our cultivars—citing both breeders and cultivar names—and will not alter this information in any way. We encourage others to do the same, ensuring transparency and respect for the collective progress within our industry.
The Mission
Big Muddy Genetics mission is to enhance the symbiotic relationship between humans and cannabis through a delicate blend of scientific rigor and artisan craftsmanship. To this end, we are committed to the relentless pursuit of excellence in all aspects of our seed breeding. We seek to establish an exceptionally high standard of quality for our customers and drive the field of cannabis botany vigorously forward.
Our goal is to continue researching, developing, and curating a portfolio of exceptional cultivars, each uniquely representing the vast and varied spectrum of this extraordinary plant and marking positive contributions to the scientific, medical, and recreational communities. We believe that our seeds, created to augment our bonds with nature and one another, will provide an incredible path for growth on the micro and macro scale.
Sustainability

From selective sourcing with a preference for sustainable materials used in the seed production process to designing eco-friendly merch and packaging, sustainability and treating our environment with respect is at the forefront of our guiding factors when it comes all decision making at Big Muddy Genetics.
